After a php version upgrade on the server the other week, it seems something has fallen off the wagon LOL The side effects of this are:
1/ If you try to add an attachment to a post, it gives you a blank white page when you click "Submit or "Add File".
2/ The sidebar on index page, is not behaving itself, and does not remember preferences as it should.

The second one we have found, and is due to a server security auto-block , thinking the cookie file is cross scripting (which it isn't)
The first one we are now working to try and resolve. It is defo not an issue with the forum itself, as the same issue happens on a clean install test board.
So for the time being, you will need to use the likes of flickr or another image host and the [img] tags, as file uploads are currently out of action.

All being well, it will not take long to resolve these issues. I will update this thread, as soon as the hosting company or myself work round it ;-)

Just an update.....
After going though several head banging against wall sessions in to the early hours, it's now in the hands of the hosting company's level 2 support techs. I have a good idea what the problem is on the server, which is confirmed by the guys who write the phpbb software. So fingers crossed the info and combined head banging, should get the server back on track ASAP.
Please note, this issue has no other effect, other than killing the image uploads. Everything else is working fine (thank god)

Sidebar should now be doing as it is told, as I've applied the work around to bypass the false server security block. Server guys are also on with fixing the other issue with image uploads, which seems to have been narrowed down to a suppressed php error server side ;)

It was the php temp folder used by the server that caused the issue. Both me and the tech dealing with it earlier checked this, and all seemed well. Anyway, another tech jumped in and suggested trying to create another temp directory, using a php.ini file. So I gave it a go, expecting no change. But sure enough, as soon as I did it, we were up and running again.
So one tiny line of code in a txt file has solved all the problems

Don't ya just love computers

I don't believe in them mate.
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to his country for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.'
