As many people don't like using facebook, we now have the new Google +1 option too. It's at the top of each topic, between the CEOP and facebook buttons. This is a rival to the facebook "Like", though is actually better in some respects.
Read some info on it in the Guardians Google plus 1 article
There is also a google article on it Here

I'm looking to add all these buttons to the mobile site too, today. I've gotta test it first, for speed etc, so they may or may not stay on ;)

I read all about this yesterday.
I guess it was just a matter of time before someone improved on the Monopoly which is Facebook.

Yeah, it seems to have potential to take over the "facebook Likes", and many people are not great fans of facebook anyway.

Keep a close eye on the peformance Chris

It's a good idea but with it still technically being in beta there are some bugs. We had it running for a while and occasionally it would just kill the forum speed. You can move the javascript down to the end of the page which helps but for some reason this causes random script errors with +1

Once out of beta the issues should be resolved...

Yes, I'm keeping close watch on it, as I've seen a few reports of it slowing loading times (they were vbulletin boards). Tried it an hour ago on the mobile site (along with facebook button), and it was making the page loading time slow down a bit when using WAP1. So it came straight back off there for now.

There are about 5 at the moment (that use it a lot), but many seem to use it for just checking up on the forums and new posts etc. I find it quite handy, as I can get on and see what's happening, no matter where I am.

Are you ticking the "remember me" box Kenny? That sounds like the browser you are using, isn't reading the cookie correctly. I use Opra mini, and it really is fantastic

that would be me 95% of the time, use lappy / netbook for uploading :D

Reason for heavy mobi usage is looong working day and i can nip in / out when i want, also make the commute more interesting ;) and throughout the night i can surf and be on forum without booting up and dongling in :)
