There was a reason. As of the end of last week, I've gone from bottom of the pile worker, to "production and bake house manager" at Eric Richmond Pies and Meats. Local and regionally famous company and butcher retailer since the 1940's. So if you want to know who eat all the pies, it was probably me :)) :)) :)) :)) 2am starts took a few days to get used to. But body clock is now set. Guys and ladies in the factory are a great laugh, and have been very welcoming, as well as happy for me to take control. Fingers crossed, as the weeks progress, I can get back to being more involved here again. Been slowly making changes in the work place, and have more yet to be put in place. That should ease the work load a little, until the Xmas madness begins, with is apparently hell on earth for 10 days up to Xmas eve.

So there you have it. I'm back as a gaffa again  O0 O0 O0

Nice to see you back and congrats on the new position.  I can imagine the busy Christmas run up, with all those pork pies and chipolatas that will folk will want for their buffets and pigs in blankets ;)

Started to make me hungry, until the phrase 'bottom of the pile worker'. Somehow that took the edge of it. Congrats anyway Chris. :))

Hi Chris,

you can see, we behaved really well without much supervising and the forum is flourishing.
We even do it without any pay but he! do not get any strange ideas for your staff at Richmond's  :)) :))

I hope everything works out the way you've planned it. It would be nice to see you back a bit more often and perhaps even a few changes for the forum in the future  :-*

The links at the bottom of the MeatAndPie home page don't work.  :(

Chris is obviously not in charge of their web site.   ;)

Pies are square, according to some Greek working in the area - but what does he know? I remember some delicious mini pork pies offered gratis in pubs in the Darlington area in the middle fifties, and they were round. (Just thought I'd add a nostalgic flavour to the thread).

I thought it was a "No pies" competition.

Not in charge of the website "YET" , but that's coming soon ;)
To give you an idea, I'm in charge of producing and baking anything from 300 to 1000 of these, on a daily basis, along with 100's of other products we produce.
http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a554/chrishoggy/12010632_10153570240975750_2352935253392003520_o_zpsb36ce1dc.jpg
I know I've not been about much, but.....

And in the run up to Xmas, that increases ten fold, with the addition of many 100's of large stand pies, and slicing pies. 2am starts are quite normal now, so don't feel like death any more. Though 10 days up to Xmas we produce for 18 hours a day, 6 days a week. So as you can imagine, I will be ready to kill Santa by the 25th  :)) :)) :))
