Author Topic: Photobucket uploader  (Read 2711 times)

Like an idiot, I'd forgotten that I'd already coded a photobucket image posting uploader in to the site years ago, which I never used. So, I've now enabled it, which should make things a million times easier for you guys from MFP. You will find it at the bottom of the posting page, when you click to create a new topic, or if you hit reply to an existing topic (it doesn't show on the quick reply ;) ).
Just register with Photobucket (one of the biggest photo sharing services on the net), login, and you are away.
You can then upload to photobucket, click the image thumbnail when it's done (it will highlight in blue), and just copy n paste the code at the bottom in to your post ;-) No resizing, no nothing :-)
And if you don't want to use it, click the "-" to the top right of the Photobucket section, and it will vanish ;-)
And this is how you do it....

Turns out i already had an account lol

But what i do like about doing this way is that no matter what size the photo is that uploads it doesn't fill the post up, it just fits.

Where have I seen that style of video tutorial before?  :-X

Nice one mate, can we have a Video Tutorial Forum that we can put yours, mine and any others in?

I'll do a couple more when I get the chance, maybe not today as I have to have a Retinal Scan later and it buggers up my eyes for a few hours.

It worked! Thanks Chris. Is there any chance of showing more than 6 thumbnails at a time - maybe 8 or 10? Or will it make it too slow?

The thumbnail numbers etc are all controlled by photobucket themselves, so sadly there is no way of changing that ;) .

As for video tutorials, I'll look at creating a video Icon that can indicate "Video tutorial" within the forum  ;) Don't want to create too many forum sections, as it starts to get a bit messy if you have too many ;-)

OK. Thanks for the explanation Chris.

I couldn't find the Photobucket uploader at first. I had to close down the page and reload before it appeared. For those still to try it out, it is right down at the bottom of the page below all the posts.

Only got one small request Chris. Is it possible to place the uploader under the reply box just under the "Post" button (if you get what i mean) because if there are lots of posts you have to scroll miles down the page to find it.

Just looking at this now, and some people may have noticed the uploader popping up in different positions ;-) Just trying to see what area it fits in to best ;)

Just tried it and couldn't get it to work. (on the Wensleydale shot)
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to his country for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.'

I don't think I used it properly because I remove the IMG bits and loaded via the 'Insert image ' button. I'll try again.

I've now moved the uploader to the left of the posting box. It was interfearing with other coding when below the post box, so trying it to the side ;) Is that any better?

Looks good there Chris but it isn't showing if you are using the "quote" function but i'm guessing that if anybody was using it they would be less likely to be posting a pic anyway.

I'll get me coat.
