Author Topic: The forum, and changes coming  (Read 1340 times)

The forum will be undergoing some serious work next week, to complete the transfer to a new server. While I appreciate people have been frustrated by recent issues, there are a few things I would like to say.
Although I appreciate offers to help, there is only so much access I can allow people to have, because of data protection, and also to protect my server account. So the only person that can resolve the recent issues, is myself. After a messy separation from my ex last year, along with a new job last year, which demands most of my time, it is difficult to even post, never mind sit at the PC for hours on end. I am off work for 2 weeks, as of Saturday, and will therefore be resolving the issues we have been having.
However, although I understand how annoying some of the problems have been, it is not morally right to be seen to be poaching members, for other sites. If people wish to use such sites, that is fine by me. I would just like people to not be posting details of other sites on here. When I posted the info on Fuji for this site, it was done with the blessing of the admins, as Fuji was closing down. This site is not closing down, it is having server issues. Any further postings promoting other sites, just because we are having issues, will be deleted. I don't ask for much, in fact I don't ask anybody for anything on here. So a little bit of respect for this site, would be appreciated. After all, when the likes of Fuji (and others) dropped it's members like dead weights, who was the one offering an olive branch?

I'm not going to go on about this, and consider this matter closed now ;)

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to his country for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.'

Appreciate your efforts Chris. Sorry if my mentioning about attempting to join that other site contributed to the 'poaching". That wasn't my intent. As I've said already, I thoroughly enjoy this site and have no plans to move on. Can't wait to see what the new changes bring.

I don't think your post did any harm Bill.   It has been one member in particular who seems to want to destroy this site single handed.   It won't happen. >:D

Thanks for the update Chris. Like Bill, I appreciate this site and enjoy contributing. It would be good to have some more active members.

I too appreciate everything you do to keep the site up and running Chris so I won't be going anywhere. Can't wait to see what improvements you make.   :)

I sincerely hope that I'm not the one you have in mind Bob........................I did give a link to Pheonix but also stated I would be sticking here too. I have supported the monthly competition too as I realise the effort that Ray put into it.
I see no reason why folks can't be participating in both. Pheonix , incidentally, has a link into this site too.

You are the one I had in mind Jim.   You have done more to lose us members than anyone else.

I wouldn't have thought that giving a link to another site would have damaged this or lost members. Anyway, you've now lost another.

I don't see it as a loss.

I think that's a bit unfair Bob.
Jim was only pointing out to people disappointed with this site that there are alternatives, that's not poaching.
He was still contributing to this site sometimes more than others with posts and comments.
Nikon D7000, Fuji S100FS, Cannon Power Shot G16. 2 short arms, a dodgy eye and a new heart valve.

NOT FOR THE SQUEAMISH.

If you have time Chris when you work on the site, is there any chance to get rid of that youpic post top right  :)
