I frequent a sailing forum and several people there have received an email from Photobucket saying that they are not allowed 3rd party hosting of photos. This would including linking to sites like this. Photobucket has disabled that feature in their accounts unless they pay $500 pa for the privilege. I guess it is only a matter of time before those of us here get the same email. It's not a scam as the linked photos have been disabled on the Photobucket site.

This is a bit strange because Photobucket themselves give the necessary codes for photos in order to embed them on other sites. If and when they email me, I will shut down my accounts as that is the only use I have for them. I guess I'll then use Flikr until they also decide to adopt the same tactics.

Shame as it works so well here.

I use Photobucket and have linked to this site in the past.   I'll keep an eye on it.
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to his country for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.'

There's more about it here Bob. If you have any photos you don't want deleted you'd better save them elsewhere.

Odd behaviour. Did they give reasons for this?

They are just saying that it is against their terms and conditions for a free account and they want you to pay for the privilege. I think they will lose lots of people.

I don't use it very often but every time I click on the link to Photobucket now I get a request to pay.

I've just downloaded my complete album (106 items) just in case. :)

I always got that ad Bob. You don't see the warning until you try to link to a picture from a web site. If you try to link one of your pictures to here, you might get the same warning. It's not visible in your account.
