Took this shot of HMS President on the Thames which has been "dazzle-camouflage" painted by artist and sculptor Tobias Rehberger  as part of the WW1 commemorations!

Saw that at the beginning of the month Nick and thought it looked impressive, even better lit up in the dark. Your shot is better than mine though. Well done.

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to his country for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.'

Yes it certainly makes you look twice David. I was on the water taxi so we were fairly close by!

Just seen your op selfie - great idea! I did suggest that they stream my kidney removal to my buddies in the USA but they said they would be too busy  :))

Surgeon took 12 shots with my camera + a 1 minute video when they put the jump leads in and restarted me.

I think it's graffiti dressed up as art. It bears no resemblance to dazzle paint.

It's a graffitto, although not black and white - and just as much a work of art as Tracy Emin's bed.
Not sure that a warship is the place to scrible it, though - more camouknickers than camouflage - but the Navy might like it?

Dazzle camo was nothing like that.

I guess we have to accept artistic licence with regard to the style of the paint job!   O0

Art or Graffiti?

Well.. i have not seen the real stuff only your photo. From that i would say neither!
A vessel, designed for minesweeping and warfare in general does not look like the best canvas for art or graffiti. Much to serious, too many dead people, too much suffering ....

Perhaps the 'artwork' on an outdated boat like this looks much better when watched live but from your photos it does not work for me.

Uwe,

My only comment would be that if this boat makes people reflect on the futility of war, then they can paint it any way they want!

it made me reflect so perhaps the decoration was ok in the end  :))

I would suspect that many of the younger generation have no idea of the reasoning behind disruptive patterning.
