I've been taking a lot of pics of the remaining Hercs so I thought I'd share them. This is XV295, my Nemesis and close friend for around 21 years.

Great pics Chaz.   What's that spigot thing sticking out the bottom on No 3?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to his country for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.'

Oh right. It's the dump mast. The engine has various breathers and drain pipes from different parts. All the pipes culminate at the dump mast and are vented out to atmoshere. When it [the engine] was designed 50 odd years ago, environmental concerns weren't on the top of anyone's list! Modern engines recycle or burn excess oil or fuel in the jet efflux.
Well, you did ask!   :D
